Granular Activated Carbon Cartridge 10" Ecosoft CHV2510

Granular activated carbon cartridge 10", Ecosoft

The ECO-CHV2510ECO is a granular activated carbon (GAC) cartridge in the standard 10" format. It treats chlorine, taste, odour and organic compounds in mains water.

Granular or block: two different logics

Granular carbon is a bed of loose granules the water passes through. Its open structure gives a considerably lower pressure drop than a carbon block of the same volume, flow passes effortlessly, which matters on an installation that already has several stages in series or a limited supply pressure.

In exchange, water/media contact is less constrained than with a compressed block. GAC is therefore the right choice when flow and taste correction are the priority, the block when mechanical filtration is also wanted.

Where to install it

As a second stage, behind a sediment cartridge that protects it from fouling, granular carbon loaded with particles loses effectiveness quickly. As pre-treatment ahead of an RO system, it protects the membrane from chlorine, which degrades polyamide irreversibly.

Also at the point of use on town water for neutral taste: drinking water, coffee, ice machines.

Replacement

Flush a new cartridge for a few minutes before commissioning to clear the carbon fines, the water runs blackish at first, which is normal.

Replace it as soon as a chlorine taste returns, or every 6 months at the latest. Saturated carbon does not simply stop filtering: it releases what it has captured, and its damp bed becomes a breeding ground for bacterial growth.

Requires a standard 10" filter housing. Ecosoft reference ECO-CHV2510ECO.
