Floteck Ideal water softener, 8 L of resin

Monobloc water softener: the resin tank and salt container are integrated into a single cabinet. It reduces the hardness of the supply water and thus limits scale formation in the hot water tank, pipework and connected appliances.

Operation

Hard water passes through the ion exchange resin bed, which captures calcium and magnesium and releases sodium in exchange. The water exits softened.

When the resin is saturated, the valve initiates brine regeneration: backwash, brine draw, rinse and return of water to the salt container. The resin regains its exchange capacity.

Volumetric regeneration

The Floteck 765 valve counts the volume of water actually consumed and triggers regeneration when the resin capacity is reached, instead of regenerating at fixed intervals.

Direct consequence: salt consumption and rinse water consumption follow household usage. A prolonged absence does not trigger unnecessary regeneration, high consumption triggers it when needed.

8 L: the most compact in the range

8 L of resin covers a household of 2 to 3 people on water of typical hardness.

At 64.5 cm in height and 22.5 cm in width, it is the format that fits where a standard water softener does not: under a worktop, in a technical cupboard, in a cramped utility room or an apartment.

Since exchange capacity is proportional to resin volume, an 8 L regenerates more frequently than an 18 or 25 L at equal consumption and hardness. This is the accepted compromise of reduced footprint.

Two parameters determine the choice: the hardness of the inlet water in °fH and the number of people. An undersized appliance regenerates too often, consumes more salt and wears the resin faster. Measuring the inlet TH before validating the volume is the only way to size correctly.

Supplied with by-pass and angled 3/4" fittings

The by-pass allows the appliance to be isolated without cutting off the water supply to the building: essential for commissioning, replacing a component or a prolonged absence.

The angled 3/4" fittings limit the footprint behind the appliance and avoid tight bends on hoses. On an appliance installed in a confined space, this is what allows it to be pushed against the wall.

The complete set is supplied, which reduces the list of materials to be provided during installation.

Construction and compliance

High-pressure FRP composite tank, food-grade ion exchange resin, Floteck valve.

Component certifications: NSF 44, ACS, CE, RoHS, WRAS. Pressure tank certified KTW-BWGL, REACH and PZH.

Each appliance is 100% checked at production exit.

Installation

The appliance is installed on the main water inlet, after the meter, with the supplied by-pass.

To be provided:

• a drain for regeneration discharge, with mandatory air break: never direct and sealed connection to the sewer
• an electrical outlet nearby
• a salt tank overflow connected
• access to the cover for salt refilling

At commissioning, set the measured inlet hardness and check the hardness obtained at the outlet, then recheck it after the first complete regeneration.

Maintenance

Maintain the salt level in the tank, in pellet form. With a tank of this size, replenishment is more frequent than with a larger model: to be integrated into the visit schedule.

Periodically check for the absence of salt bridge, a crust that forms above the water level and prevents brine formation: the appliance then runs without softening.

Periodic resin cleaner extends exchange capacity, particularly on iron-bearing water.
