Floteck Atena water softener, 25 L of resin

Monobloc water softener: the resin tank and salt container are integrated into a single cabinet. It reduces the hardness of the incoming water and thus limits scale formation in the hot water tank, pipework and connected appliances.

Operation

Hard water passes through the ion exchange resin bed, which captures calcium and magnesium and releases sodium in exchange. The water emerges softened.

When the resin is saturated, the valve initiates brine regeneration: backwash, brine draw, rinse and return of water to the salt container. The resin regains its exchange capacity.

Volumetric regeneration

The Floteck 85 valve counts the volume of water actually consumed and triggers regeneration when the resin capacity is reached, instead of regenerating at fixed intervals.

Direct consequence: salt consumption and rinse water consumption follow household usage. A prolonged absence does not trigger unnecessary regeneration, high consumption triggers it when needed.

Sizing

25 L of resin covers a household of 4 to 6 people on typical water hardness.

Two parameters determine the choice: the hardness of the incoming water in °fH and the number of people. An undersized appliance regenerates too often, consumes more salt and wears the resin faster. A properly sized appliance spaces out the cycles.

Measuring the incoming TH before confirming the volume is the only way to size correctly.

Supplied with by-pass and angled 3/4" fittings

The by-pass allows the appliance to be isolated without cutting off the water supply to the property: essential for commissioning, component replacement or prolonged absence.

The angled 3/4" fittings limit the space required behind the appliance and avoid tight bends on hoses.

The complete set is supplied, which reduces the list of materials to be provided on installation.

Construction and compliance

High-pressure FRP composite tank, food-grade ion exchange resin, Floteck valve.

Component certifications: NSF 44, ACS, CE, RoHS, WRAS. Pressure tank certified KTW-BWGL, REACH and PZH.

Each appliance is 100% checked at production exit.

Installation

The appliance is installed on the main water inlet, after the meter, with the supplied by-pass.

Points to provide:

• a drain for regeneration discharge, with mandatory air break: never direct connection and sealed to the sewer
• an electrical outlet nearby
• a salt container overflow connected
• access to the cover for salt filling

At commissioning, set the measured incoming hardness and check the hardness obtained at outlet after adjusting the mixing, then recheck it after the first complete regeneration.

Maintenance

Maintain the salt level in the container, in pellet form. Periodically check for the absence of salt bridging, a crust that forms above the water level and prevents brine from forming correctly: the appliance then runs without softening.

Periodic resin cleaner extends exchange capacity, particularly on iron-bearing water.
