Description

The multi-jet meter is a velocity meter designed for cold water. It measures the volume of water passing through it and displays it on a totaliser. Robust and simple, it is used for both the water inlet of a building and secondary circuits or technical installations.

Operating principle

Inside the meter, water is distributed into multiple jets directed towards a turbine. The rotation speed of the turbine is proportional to the flow rate, and the mechanism transmits it to the totaliser. As the jets are distributed around the turbine, the forces on its axis balance out. This provides more stable measurement and better long-term performance than a single-jet meter.

Applications

• General metering of cold water in a dwelling, premises or site
• Sub-metering by building, floor or usage
• Monitoring of water treatment equipment: consumption of a softener, filter or production line
• With pulse output, triggering of volumetric regenerations or control of a proportional dosing pump

Installation

The meter is installed in line, in the flow direction indicated by the arrow on the body. It is fitted with removable fittings and isolation valves for easy replacement. Sufficient straight length must be provided upstream and downstream for measurement accuracy, and it must be installed protected from frost.

Selecting the right meter

The meter is selected according to the pipe diameter (DN) and the flow rate of the installation. To transmit the measurement to a valve or controller, choose a pre-equipped model or one adaptable for pulse output. The DIMM team will help you select the meter and its fittings.
