Male connector 1/4" tube × 1/4" NPTF

Straight fitting combining a 1/4" push-fit tube connector with a 1/4" NPTF male thread. It takes a tubing line to a threaded appliance or component with no tooling: the tube pushes fully into the collet and locks itself.

The basic fitting of an RO system

In 1/4" × 1/4", this is the most widespread configuration on a reverse osmosis installation: membrane inlet, permeate outlet, drain line, valve or solenoid connection, take-off to the tank. This is the fitting to always keep in stock, the one missing mid-job costs more time than all the others combined.

The NPTF thread

NPTF is an American tapered thread of the Dryseal type: sealing comes from the thread flanks deforming against each other, with no gasket. In practice, a wrap of PTFE tape is still advisable on a water installation.

Watch compatibility: NPTF is not interchangeable with a BSP thread of the same nominal size. Thread angle and pitch differ, forcing the assembly damages both parts and leaks. Check the appliance thread before ordering.

Applications

Domestic and professional RO systems, water coolers and drinking fountains, coffee machines and beverage dispensers, dosing lines, American-style fridges.

Fitting

Cut the tube square with a proper tube cutter for a clean section, then push it fully into the fitting up to the stop. Tighten the thread hand-tight plus a quarter to half turn with a spanner, without forcing, the body is polymer and excessive torque cracks it. Pressurise and check for leaks before closing up.
