Locking clip 3/8" for push-fit fitting

Small safety part that clips between the collet and the body of a 3/8" push-fit fitting. Once in place, the collet can no longer be pressed in: the tube stays locked.

What it is for

On a push-fit fitting, the tube releases when the collet is pressed. Convenient during maintenance, and precisely the risk in service: an accidental press against the collet, a tube pulled, an object leaning on the fitting in an under-sink cupboard, and the line separates under full pressure.

The clip removes that possibility. It physically blocks the collet in the locked position. To dismantle, you remove the clip first, a deliberate action, never an accidental one.

Where to fit it

On hard-to-reach or exposed fittings: under a sink, behind an appliance, in a storage cupboard, on a line under permanent pressure. In practice, wherever an RO or feed line crosses a space where other things are handled.

A detail that costs little

The clip costs pennies. A 3/8" tube that pops out under a sink while nobody is home costs a great deal more. On the sensitive points of an installation, it is the cheapest insurance on the job.

Fitting

Push the tube fully into the fitting up to the stop, then clip the locking clip between the collet and the body. Check it is properly engaged and that the collet no longer moves. For later dismantling, remove the clip before pressing the collet.

Reference AALC, 3/8" diameter.
