Manual union ball valve, 1/4" tube x 1/4" tube

Manual shut-off valve integrated into a straight connector. Both ends accept 1/4" tube in push-fit connection: insert fully, the stainless steel grip ring locks the tube, the O-ring seal ensures tightness.

Function

The valve is inserted as a cut-off on an existing line and allows local isolation without affecting the main supply.

Common applications:

• isolation of reverse osmosis unit supply before maintenance
• shut-off of pressure tank line for replacement or precharge check
• isolation of point-of-use tap
• deactivation of an installation branch during troubleshooting
• shut-off of water cooler or ice machine supply

Without an isolation valve, every cartridge or connector replacement requires shutting off the main supply and draining the line.

Push-fit connection at both ends

Assembly requires no soldering, gluing or tools. The stainless steel grip ring holds the tube under pressure, the O-ring seal ensures tightness around the tube perimeter.

The connector is removable and reusable: pushing the release ring frees the tube.

1/4" imperial and 6 mm metric are not interchangeable: the diameter difference prevents the O-ring from sealing correctly.

Materials

Body in food-grade acetal (POM) or brass depending on version, stainless steel grip ring, EPDM O-ring.

Installation

Cut the tube square with a tube cutter, deburr, mark insertion depth. Push the tube fully to the stop at each end, then pull gently to check locking.

Position the valve so the handle remains accessible once the enclosure is closed: an inaccessible isolation valve serves no purpose.

Pressurise gradually and check for any weeping.

Removal: depressurise the line, then push the release ring while withdrawing the tube.

Good to know

The valve operates in full open or full closed position, not for flow adjustment: an intermediate position held in service wears the seat. To limit pressure, a pressure reducer is required. To prevent backflow, a check valve is needed.
