Inline ultrafiltration cartridge 0.2 micron

Monobloc inline format cartridge, diameter 2.5", fitted with John Guest 1/4" quick connectors moulded into the end fittings. The media is an ultrafiltration membrane with a 0.2 micron threshold.

Ultrafiltration at 0.2 micron

Ultrafiltration works by size exclusion: particles and micro-organisms whose size exceeds the membrane threshold do not pass through. At 0.2 micron, the membrane retains fine suspended matter, colloids, cysts and bacteria, whose size is greater than this threshold.

It allows water and dissolved mineral salts to pass through. This is not a desalination process.

Ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis

The two technologies are not interchangeable:

• Ultrafiltration 0.2 micron: mechanical retention. Operates without high pressure, without sewer discharge, without tank. Dissolved minerals pass through.
• Reverse osmosis: retention of dissolved salts and micropollutants. Requires operating pressure, produces concentrate discharge, feeds a tank.

Ultrafiltration is installed where fine mechanical retention is sufficient and where neither discharge nor tank is desired.

Inline 2.5" format with JG 1/4" connectors

The inline format mounts directly onto the tube, without filter housing or vessel. The John Guest 1/4" connectors are integrated at both ends: the tube is inserted fully, the clip locks, the O-ring ensures sealing.

Common locations: post-treatment at reverse osmosis outlet, finishing at under-sink filtration outlet, beverage fountain or ice machine supply line.

Imperial 1/4" and metric 6 mm are not interchangeable.

Upstream pre-filtration

The 0.2 micron threshold clogs quickly on loaded water. Sediment pre-filtration is necessary upstream, with a more open threshold, typically 5 microns.

Without a pre-filter, flow loss occurs prematurely and the cartridge requires replacement before its useful life is reached.

Replacement

Replacement is carried out when flow loss occurs, a sign of membrane clogging. Indicative frequency of 6 to 12 months depending on water quality and volume treated.

The cartridge is a sealed monobloc, non-dismantleable and non-washable. It is replaced entirely.

Installation

Observe the flow direction indicated on the body. Cut the tube straight with a tube cutter, insert fully into each connector, check locking by pulling on the tube.

Secure the cartridge with a Ø 2.5" clip to prevent it from hanging on the connectors. Rinse for several minutes at first commissioning.
