Inline pre-carbon cartridge Ø 2,5"

Single-piece disposable cartridge, 2,5" diameter, with built-in John Guest 1/4" quick-connect fittings at both ends. The body is sealed: no housing, no bowl to open, no O-ring to watch. Unplug the old one, plug in the new one.

What the pre-carbon does

Installed upstream of the membrane in a reverse osmosis system, this cartridge has one clear job: to capture the free chlorine in mains water. An RO membrane is made of polyamide TFC, a material chlorine attacks chemically. The damage is irreversible: the membrane doesn't just lose salt rejection, it is destroyed. A neglected pre-carbon means a membrane replaced long before its time.

Activated carbon also removes chlorine taste and odour and part of the organic compounds, which directly improves the quality of the water produced.

Why the inline format

The inline format reduces installation to the bare minimum: no tools, no wrench, no leak risk from a poorly tightened bowl. It suits compact RO units, under-sink installations short on space, and any case where the service call has to be quick.

Replacement

Annual replacement is the general rule, sooner with heavily chlorinated water or high consumption. Activated carbon saturates: past that point it captures nothing and can release what it had captured. On an RO chain, replacing the pre-carbon together with the sediment prefilter and the post-carbon is the most reliable practice.

Fitting

Shut off the water and depressurise before servicing. Follow the flow direction shown by the arrow on the body. Push the 1/4" tube fully into the fitting and pull lightly to check engagement. Repressurise slowly and flush for a few minutes to clear carbon fines before putting back into service.
