Inline post-carbon cartridge, Ø 2.5", JG 1/4" fittings
Activated carbon cartridge in the inline format, 2.5" diameter sealed body, fitted with John Guest 1/4" quick-connect fittings at both ends as standard.
Post-carbon: the last word on taste
On an RO system, the post-carbon is the stage placed after the membrane, at the tank outlet, just before the tap. Its role differs from the carbon at the inlet:
- the pre-carbon protects the membrane from chlorine;
- the post-carbon corrects the taste of the water at the moment it is drawn.
RO water is very pure but sits stored in a bladder tank, sometimes for days. It can pick up a slight plastic or stagnant taste there. The post-carbon takes that water at the outlet and restores a neutral taste.
This is the stage the end user notices most directly, the one that gets mentioned as soon as it stops working.
No housing, no bowl
The body is sealed and disposable: no head, no bowl, no locking ring, no O-ring to watch.
Replacement is immediate, unclip the tubing from both quick-connect fittings, remove the old cartridge, plug in the new one. No tools, no bowl to drain, no risk of leaks on reassembly.
The 2.5" diameter
2.5" holds more carbon than a 2" inline cartridge, giving a longer contact time and higher treatment capacity. On a post-carbon, where the flow is simply that of the tap, that volume translates directly into service life.
Replacement
Replace the cartridge once a year, at the same time as the pre-filters. A saturated post-carbon is not merely ineffective: its damp bed, downstream of the tank and with no residual chlorine to protect it, becomes a breeding ground for bacterial growth.
Shut off the supply and depressurise the line before servicing. Respect the flow direction marked by the arrow on the body. After refitting, run water for a few minutes to purge air and carbon fines, the water runs cloudy at first, which is normal.
Integrated John Guest 1/4" fittings, directly compatible with standard 1/4" tubing.
