Overview
This reed contact cable equips water meters from the DHM and DHS ranges to provide them with pulse output. Once fitted to the meter, it makes the measurement usable remotely: control of a treatment valve, counting by a controller or consumption monitoring.
Operating principle
The reed contact (flexible blade switch) opens and closes under the effect of a magnet driven by the meter mechanism. Each closure sends a pulse corresponding to a volume of water that has flowed. The receiving device counts these pulses to calculate the volume.
Wiring
The cable has 3 wires:
- Black: common
- Red: contact output
- Green: contact output
Connection is made between the common and the output used, according to the diagram of the receiving device.
Use
This type of cable is used in particular for triggering volumetric regenerations on water softeners and filters controlled by meter, for consumption monitoring on a network or for counting with a proportional dosing pump.
