Overview

A salt alarm is installed in the salt tank of a water softener. It alerts the user as soon as the salt reserve becomes insufficient. It is suitable for both residential and small commercial applications, wherever it is desired to prevent a softener from running out of salt without anyone noticing.

Operating principle

A probe placed in the tank detects the salt level. When it falls below the detection threshold, the alarm is triggered and signals that recharging is required. The user no longer needs to lift the cover to check.

Why monitor salt level

Without salt, the softener continues its cycles, but regeneration occurs with clear water only. The ion exchange resin is no longer recharged and hard water passes into the installation with no visible sign at the tap. Limescale then deposits in pipes, water heaters and appliances. The alarm prevents this problem by signalling salt shortage in time.

Installation

The probe is positioned in the salt tank at the desired height for the alert threshold, and the unit is placed where the alarm remains visible or audible. Installation requires no intervention on the valve or on the softener's hydraulic circuit.

Choosing correctly

The salt alarm is suitable for most salt tanks. It is particularly useful when the softener is installed in an infrequently accessed location (basement, garage, technical room). The DIMM team will advise you on compatibility with your installation.

DIMM service & support

DIMM designs, assembles and ships turnkey bottle filters (Aquacarb/Carbsorb charcoal, pH correction Calcite/Corosex/Everzit, multilayer Ecomix) on Clack valves, as well as hoses and accessories. Our teams analyse your water, size the bottle and valve and advise you on the appropriate media and pre-treatment. Each reference is identified by its article code, with manufacturer warranty, spare parts and refill media available. From advice to commissioning, we support installers and homeowners, from bottle and valve sizing to media selection and maintenance follow-up, with a stock of refill media and spare parts immediately available.

Good to know

Media is selected according to water analysis: charcoal for taste and chlorine, calcite/Corosex to raise aggressive pH, Ecomix for multi-problem well water. Plan for backwashing (sufficient flow and drainage) and, for pH correction media, periodic monitoring and recharging of the level as they are consumed. An upstream sediment pre-filter protects the media and spaces out washings, while regular water analysis allows valve setting adjustment.

Applications

These bottle filters are installed at point of entry (protection of the entire house or building), in residential, commercial and agricultural settings. Depending on the media, they refine taste, correct pH or treat multiple parameters. They combine with sediment pre-filtration and, if needed, aeration, for safe water and protected plumbing all year round.

Warranty & restocking

Station assembled and distributed by DIMM, identified by its Business Central article code for reliable ordering and simple restocking. It benefits from manufacturer warranty; the valve, bottle, refill media and compatible hoses remain available in the catalogue to support the installation throughout its lifetime.
