Overview
The Clack external mixing valve is installed inline, on the pipework, outside the softener control valve. It diverts a portion of raw water to blend it with softened water, allowing adjustment of residual hardness at the outlet.
Why adjust residual hardness
Completely softened water (0 °fH) is not always desirable in networks. Maintaining a few degrees of hardness allows you to tailor water to its intended use, whilst reducing salt and regeneration water consumption, since only the necessary portion of volume is softened.
External inline installation
External installation offers several advantages:
- Adds mixing function to an installation whose control valve does not have it
- Adjustment accessible without intervening on the control valve
- Independent maintenance of the mixing valve and softener
Adjustment
After installation, adjust the valve by measuring TH at the outlet with a test strip or drop test kit, until the target value is reached. Check again after a few days of operation to fine-tune the adjustment.
Installation
The valve is installed on the outlet line of the softener, with a connection to the raw water inlet, according to the installation diagram. Provide isolation valves for maintenance and respect the flow direction indicated on the body.
