O-ring for Big Blue filter housing
Replacement O-ring for Big Blue format filter housings, Aquapro reference PR-ORING-BB. It seats in the head groove and provides the seal between head and bowl.
On a Big Blue, this part is critical
The O-ring is the first cause of leaks on a filter housing. At every dismantling it is crushed, marked and loses elasticity; a dry, flattened or split ring no longer recovers its shape and lets water through under pressure.
On a Big Blue, the stakes are higher than on a conventional 10": the bowl holds several litres and the unit sits at the point of entry, on full mains pressure. A leak there is not a few drops.
The habit to adopt: replace it at every cartridge change, not only when it leaks.
Fitting
Clean the groove before fitting the new ring. A little food-grade silicone grease eases installation and prevents pinching on reassembly, on a heavy, large-diameter Big Blue bowl the ring easily slips out of its groove. Tighten the bowl with the dedicated spanner, without overdoing it.
