Brass equal double male nipple 3/4"

Straight connecting fitting, male thread at both ends, same diameter throughout. It joins two female 3/4" elements end to end: valve outlet, meter inlet, filter body, manifold, garden tap. Brass body, reference ANQ-D1734, size 19 for 3/4".

Why the equal nipple remains a basic component

On a water treatment site, most components have female threads: stop valves, filter housings, bypass, distribution blocks. Two female threads cannot connect to each other. The equal nipple bridges them without changing diameter and without adding significant pressure drop.

It is also the standard extension piece when a connection needs to be lengthened by a few centimetres, or when an appliance must be moved back to access a service wrench.

Brass, the choice for potable water

Brass withstands pressure, does not crack under tightening like some plastics, can be reworked on disassembly and tolerates repeated tightening and loosening cycles on maintained equipment. On a cold potable water line, it is the reference material for small fittings.

Threading: the point to verify

BSP threads exist in two families, and they behave differently:

  • BSPT tapered (R): sealing occurs on the thread. Teflon tape or thread seal tape with paste is required, and tightening is done to torque, not to bottoming.
  • BSPP parallel (G): sealing occurs on a flat bearing surface, with a fibre or O-ring seal. Tightening on the thread alone is not sufficient.

Confirm the family of your component before assembly. A tapered thread screwed into a parallel thread bites partially, appears to hold, then weeps under pressure or on valve closure shock.

Installation

Clean the threads, check for burrs and swarf, apply Teflon tape in the direction of threading over several turns, keeping it taut. Tighten with a spanner or adjustable wrench on the flats, never on the round body. Pressurise and check the fitting by hand for leaks before closing the enclosure or cabinet.

Plan space around it: a nipple between two components mechanically locks the assembly. If one of the two must be dismantled alone later, a three-piece union fitting is the right choice at that location.

Good to know

The equal nipple does not change diameter, direction or thread type. To change from one diameter to another, a reducing nipple or reducer coupling is needed. To change axis, an elbow. To allow disassembly without turning both sides, a union.
