Why meter water

Principle

This accessory completes a water-metering installation: remote display, dosing module or associated peripheral. It enriches the reading, display or control linked to the measured consumption.

How it works

Depending on the reference, the accessory displays consumption (LCD screen, IP44/IP68 rating), drives volume-proportional dosing, or provides a peripheral function. It connects to the meter's pulse output and integrates into the existing installation.

Reliability & anti-fraud

A water meter's reliability lies in its design: dry dial isolated from the water, magnetic transmission between turbine and register (which also protects against magnet fraud), a hermetically sealed register to stay readable over time, and an epoxy-coated brass or corrosion-resistant cast-iron body. Choosing the right meter

Choosing a meter depends on the flow to measure and pipe diameter (DN), temperature (cold or hot water) and measuring range (ratio R). Single-jet meters suit small domestic diameters, multi-jet offer better low-flow accuracy, Woltmann handle high flows with low pressure drop, and combined meters cover a very wide range. DIMM helps size to your installation.

The pulse output

The pulse output turns a water volume into electrical signals: each pulse corresponds to a preset volume (pulse value, adjustable among several values). Connected to a logger, PLC or BMS, it enables remote reading, leak alarms, allocation and volume-proportional control. Depending on the model, two outputs (identical or different) and flow direction are available.

Installation & maintenance

Installation is on a full pipe, in the arrow direction, preferably horizontal to preserve accuracy (maximum ratio). Follow the recommended upstream/downstream straight lengths and fit a strainer upstream to protect the mechanism. Isolation valves ease removal. Maintenance is minimal: periodic checks and replacement at metrological end of life.
