Double male nipple 1/4" with O-ring

Straight double male 1/4" × 1/4" fitting, supplied with an O-ring. It joins two 1/4" female ports directly end to end. Aquapro reference PR-NIPPLE-14-O.

Why the O-ring matters

This is what sets this nipple apart from a conventional threaded one.

On a standard fitting, sealing relies on the thread: a tapered thread tightened home, with PTFE tape or pipe sealant. Assembly therefore depends on the fitter's care, amount of tape, wrapping direction, tightening torque, and results vary.

Here, sealing is handled by an O-ring compressed against a seat. The thread only holds the assembly together.

Three practical consequences.

No consumables at assembly. No PTFE, no sealant. The fitting is ready to screw in, saving time on installation and removing a source of error.

Controlled tightening. The seal closes well before mechanical bottoming. There is no need to force it, on a polymer body, over-tightening is precisely what splits ports.

Clean disassembly. No PTFE residue to scrape off, no fouled threads. The fitting comes apart and goes back identically, which matters on equipment opened regularly.

Where to use it

On reverse osmosis systems and water treatment installations, to join two components with 1/4" female ports: filter heads, membrane housings, valves, tanks, pump bodies.

It is a direct connection fitting: two elements to be linked without intermediate tubing, in compact assemblies.

Fitting

Check that the O-ring is in place, clean, undamaged and correctly seated in its groove. A seal pinched or twisted during assembly is almost always the cause of leaks on this type of fitting.

Screw in by hand until the seal makes contact, then tighten a quarter turn at most. The seal must be compressed, not crushed.

Check the seal condition at every disassembly, and replace it as soon as it shows a nick, a permanent deformation or hardening.
