DMfit reducing union 3/8" × 1/4"

Straight fitting with a 3/8" push-fit tube connector on one side and a 1/4" connector on the other. Each tube pushes fully into its collet and locks itself, with no tools, no glue and no seal to fit.

The step-down fitting

This is the part that joins the two standard diameters of an RO or filtration installation:

• 3/8" tank outlet to a 1/4" distribution line
• 3/8" feed on an RO system to a component in 1/4"
• transition between two appliances that do not share the same tubing diameter

Two push-fit connectors back to back, so it is removable from either side, useful when the reduction sits at a point of the installation that gets opened regularly.

Why not to improvise

A 1/4" tube will not hold in a 3/8" fitting: the collet does not grip, the seal does not bear, and the leak shows up under pressure. The reducing union is the only clean solution, a bodged assembly with an undersized tube forced into the wrong collet always lets go eventually.

Fitting

Cut each tube square with a proper tube cutter for a clean section, then push them fully home to the stop. Pull gently on each side to confirm they have locked. Pressurise and check for leaks before closing up the installation.
