Water softener installation kit, all connections in one box

Complete kit containing the parts required for connecting a water softener to the mains network. Designed to avoid multiple trips to the supplier and supply shortages during installation: everything that is typically missing at assembly is included in the box.

Kit contents

1 blue filter housing 3-piece 9"3/4, inlet/outlet 3/4", pre-filtration upstream of the softener. The 3-piece body allows cartridge replacement without removing the head or disturbing the pipework.

1 cartridge 10" woven PP fibre 20 microns, NSF certified, traps rust, sand and silt before they reach the valve and resin bed. The 20 µm is the right compromise for softener pre-filtration: fine enough to protect, tolerant enough not to clog within weeks.

3 EPDM-ACS hoses DN20 3/4"F × 3/4"F, stainless steel braid, length 800 mm, certified ACS for water intended for human consumption. They absorb alignment defects and allow the unit to be removed without touching the pipework.

4 equal double male nipples 3/4" and 2 reduced nipples 1" × 3/4" in brass, for connecting the unit, bypass and adapting to network diameters.

1 hardness test kit (1 drop = 1 °fH), to measure hardness before valve adjustment and verify the result after the first cycle. This is the only objective way to validate commissioning.

3 m of discharge tube 14×18 and 2 steel hose clamps 12-20 mm, for draining regeneration water and overflow from the salt tank.

Why a kit rather than individual parts

On a softener installation, lost time does not come from the unit but from the connections: a nipple with the wrong diameter, a hose that is too short, a missing clamp. The kit brings together parts selected to work together, with ACS certification already covered on the hose side and NSF on the cartridge side.

It also allows you to quote an installation as a fixed price, without listing ten references on the estimate.

Installation

Cut off the water supply and drain before work. Do not twist the hoses: hold the nut on one side while tightening the other, and maintain a generous bend radius. Check for flat washers at each connection, and seal the nipples with PTFE tape.

Record the inlet hardness with the hardness test kit before valve adjustment, then check the outlet after the first regeneration cycle. Ensure sufficient clearance under the filter housing bowl to allow removal.
