Black polyethylene tubing 3/8", NSF, per metre

Flexible tube in food-grade polyethylene, NSF certified, outer diameter 3/8" or 9.52 mm. Supplied cut to length, per metre.

Applications: feed and interconnection of reverse osmosis units, connections between filtration stages, inlet and outlet of pressure tank, line to point-of-use tap, water fountains and ice machines.

NSF certification

The tube carries NSF certification, which attests to the conformity of materials in contact with drinking water. This is the requirement specified in technical specifications for professional installations, in food service and public facilities.

Diameter 3/8"

The 3/8" is the high-flow section of the range, as opposed to 1/4" used on short domestic reverse osmosis lines.

Typical applications for 3/8":

• tank outlet and line to tap, for rapid filling
• high-flow reverse osmosis units
• long runs, where pressure drop of 1/4" becomes significant
• water fountains and professional equipment

Black tube

Black polyethylene is opaque. It blocks light, which prevents algae growth in exposed line sections, and remains discreet when installed visibly.

The inside of the tube is not visible: visual inspection of flow or empty line is not possible, unlike with transparent tubing.

Quick couplings

Compatible with John Guest, DMfit and compatible push-fit quick couplings in 3/8". Straight cut, insert to the stop, the retaining clip locks and the O-ring ensures sealing. No glue or PTFE tape required on the tube connection.

The 3/8" imperial and 10 mm metric are not interchangeable: the diameter difference prevents the O-ring from sealing correctly.

Cutting and assembly

• Cut with a tube cutter, straight cut, without crushing or angled cut. An irregular cut prevents the O-ring from sealing around the entire circumference.
• Insert the tube to the stop, beyond the retaining clip.
• Check the lock by gently pulling on the tube.
• Allow a wide bend radius at the coupling outlet. The 3/8" is stiffer than 1/4" and will kink at a tight angle.
• Do not clamp the tube immediately behind a connection.

Packaging

Sold per metre, cut to the ordered length. Measure the actual run and allow for extra length.
