Why meter water

Principle

This axial Woltmann meter is designed for high flows and large diameters (DN50 to DN300). It measures cold- or hot-water consumption on industrial and collective networks, with low pressure drop and a pulse output for remote reading.

How it works

The Woltmann helix, set in the flow axis, turns proportionally to flow and drives a dry register via magnetic transmission. This principle offers high flow capacity and low pressure drop on large diameters. Typical ratio R=50; cast-iron or brass body, flanged connection.

Reliability & anti-fraud

Choosing the right meter

The pulse output

The pulse output turns a water volume into electrical signals: each pulse corresponds to a preset volume (pulse value, adjustable among several values). Connected to a logger, PLC or BMS, it enables remote reading, leak alarms, allocation and volume-proportional control. Depending on the model, two outputs (identical or different) and flow direction are available.

Installation & maintenance

Installation is on a full pipe, in the arrow direction, preferably horizontal to preserve accuracy (maximum ratio). Follow the recommended upstream/downstream straight lengths and fit a strainer upstream to protect the mechanism. Isolation valves ease removal. Maintenance is minimal: periodic checks and replacement at metrological end of life.
