UV-C water steriliser Blue Lagoon, BOST-0181397

The uv-c water steriliser blue lagoon Blue Lagoon reference BOST-0181397 (article code ART091516) is a device for water disinfection by ultraviolet radiation. It eliminates bacteria, viruses, yeasts and moulds without any chemical, while preserving the taste, odour and minerals of the water.

UV-C principle

The UV-C lamp emits germicidal radiation at 254 nm. Water flows around a lamp protected by a quartz sleeve; the UV dose received (mJ/cm²) destroys the DNA of bacteria, viruses and parasites, rendering them harmless. No by-products or residual taste, unlike chlorine.

Chemical-free disinfection

UV treatment achieves a very high microbial reduction (up to 99.99 % depending on model and flow) across a wide range of pathogens, including chlorine-resistant ones such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. It does not modify the water's composition: no added substances, no disinfection by-products. An ecological, economical and permanent solution for microbiologically safe water.

Construction and installation

The device comprises an irradiation chamber in stainless steel, the UV source and its electronic power supply. It is mounted inline on the pipe, after filtration, with threaded inlet and outlet. Installation is carried out after suitable filtration (the water must be clear for UV to act).

Applications

Disinfection of domestic drinking water, well and borehole water, rainwater, securing reverse-osmosis and softening units, HORECA, medical practices, food industry, camping and boating. UV treatment is the ideal final barrier after filtration: it neutralises the micro-organisms that mechanical filtration does not retain, without altering the water. It is a dependable solution for households, professionals and communities seeking microbiologically safe water without changing its taste or composition.

Maintenance

Maintenance is limited to periodic replacement of the UV-C lamp (generally once a year, as the germicidal dose decreases over time) and annual cleaning of the quartz sleeve. DIMM supplies the compatible germicidal lamps and quartz sleeves. Regular checks guarantee continuously effective disinfection.

Benefits of UV treatment

Ultraviolet treatment uses no chemical whatsoever: it changes neither the pH, nor the taste, nor the minerality of the water, and generates no disinfection by-products. It acts continuously, without storing reagents or handling hazardous products, and instantly secures the water at the point of use. Its running cost is limited to electricity and replacement of the source. It is the simplest and most ecological disinfection solution for already-filtered, clear water.

Good to know

The effectiveness of a UV steriliser depends on the dose received by the micro-organisms: it decreases if the flow exceeds the device's capacity, if the water is turbid, or if the quartz sleeve is scaled. The device must therefore be sized to the real flow, with upstream filtration (5 microns recommended) and maintenance of the source and sleeve. A correctly sized and maintained device guarantees reliable, continuous disinfection, year after year.

Why choose DIMM

DIMM, a water-treatment specialist for more than thirty years, selects reliable UV sterilisers (Blue Lagoon) and offers all consumables (lamps, sleeves, modules).
