Fibre washer 3/4", 1.5 mm thick
Flat washer in compressed fibre for 3/4" threaded fittings with flat seating. It is crushed between the two seating faces as the nut is tightened and seals without PTFE tape or hemp.
Where it is used
On any BSP parallel flat-seat connection: connection hoses, water meters, safety groups, valves, softener, filter housing and water treatment appliance inlets and outlets. This is the washer that comes in the bag with a flexible hose or an appliance, and the one that goes missing on reassembly.
Fibre or rubber
A fibre washer withstands higher temperatures and pressures than a rubber one and does not creep over time. In exchange, it is single-use: once crushed, it keeps the imprint of the seat and does not recover its shape. Never reuse it after dismantling.
Fitting
Check that both seating faces are clean and unscratched, a new washer will not compensate for a damaged seat. Place the washer centred, tighten hand-tight then a quarter turn with a spanner. Excessive torque crushes the fibre and causes the very leak it was meant to prevent.
