Overview

BoilerMag magnetic dirt separator (ref. ECL-BM-22-CP) for heating circuits. Connection 22MM. It captures sludge and magnetite particles (black iron oxides) circulating in the central-heating water, protecting the boiler, pump, heat exchanger and emitters. Compact, it fits on the return, upstream of the boiler.

Magnetic principle

A powerful permanent magnet attracts and retains the ferromagnetic particles (magnetite) in suspension, while the settling chamber traps non-magnetic sludge. The water returns clarified, restoring heat transfer, reducing consumption and preventing hot spots, noise and pump blockages.

Construction & maintenance

The body and bowl are rated for the pressure and temperature of heating circuits, with integrated air vent and drain valve. Maintenance is simple: close the isolation valves, open the drain to flush the retained sludge, without dismantling. Periodic cleaning (per fouling) keeps efficiency.

Installation & compatibility

Fits on the return pipe, as close as possible to the boiler, with isolation valves (available as accessory) for maintenance without draining the circuit. Connection 22MM. Compatible with domestic installations (oil, gas, heat pump, underfloor heating). Pair with a corrosion inhibitor for lasting protection.

Good to know

Install the separator on the return, as close as possible to the boiler, with isolation valves for maintenance without draining. After a chemical de-sludge, flush then re-protect with an inhibitor. Bleed air and drain sludge regularly in the first year (new or heavily fouled circuit), then at each annual service. A separator does not replace chemical treatment: both are complementary, the magnet retaining magnetite continuously while the inhibitor protects the metals and the cleaner loosens old deposits.

Applications

Magnetic de-sludging applies to all hot-water heating circuits: oil/gas/condensing boilers, heat pumps, underfloor heating and radiators, in single homes and small collective buildings.
