Overview

Activated carbon (ref. MED-CHARBON-CARBSORB-30, 25 kg bag (50 L)) is a filtration media with very high developed surface area, obtained by activation of carbonaceous materials (coconut shell, coal or agglomerated carbon). Loaded into a filter bottle or media holder, it removes by adsorption free chlorine, disinfection by-products, tastes, odours and numerous organic micropollutants, for more pleasant drinking and process water.

Role & action

This media ensures dechlorination and removal of tastes, odours and organic micropollutants. Its performance depends on the loaded volume, service flow rate and water quality to be treated. It integrates into a filter bottle equipped with a valve (manual or automatic) or into a suitable media holder, sized according to your installation flow rate.

Installation & maintenance

Load the media into the bottle (with support layer if necessary), rinse with backwash before first commissioning to remove fines, then put into service. Depending on the media type, periodic backwashing decakes the bed and restores pressure drop; adsorbent media (carbon) and finite capacity media (arsenic) are replaced when saturated.

Packaging

Supplied in 25 kg bag (50 L). Store dry, protected from frost and contamination sources. Handle with suitable protective equipment (dust). Size according to the useful volume of the filter bottle.

Well-chosen media correctly washed lasts several years and treats large water volumes at low cost. Media regenerable by simple backwashing (sand, glass, iron removal) limit consumables and waste; recycled filter glass and coconut carbons support sustainable practice. Good to know

Always verify media compatibility with your water analysis (pH, iron, hardness, flow rate). Rinse the media before commissioning to remove fines. Provide a support layer (sand/gravel) under fine media and respect the expansion rate during washing. Carbons and adsorbent media must be replaced once saturated; they do not regenerate by simple washing.
