Elbow connector with straight tail, 1/4" x 1/4"

90° elbow combining two connection modes:

• tube side: push-fit connection. The 1/4" tube is inserted fully, the stainless steel grip ring locks it, the O-ring ensures sealing
• straight tail side: cylindrical 1/4" spigot without thread, designed to be inserted into another quick connector or into the socket provided on an appliance

The straight tail principle

The straight tail is not a thread. It is a spigot calibrated to the diameter of a tube, which behaves like a tube: it inserts into a quick connector, a valve or an appliance body equipped with a push-fit connection.

What this allows:

• connect two quick connectors directly, without tube drop
• change direction as close as possible to an appliance, where a bent tube would not fit
• take up an appliance outlet equipped with push-fit without adding a threaded connector

The straight tail is inserted like a tube: fully, until it bottoms out, then checked by pulling.

The 90° elbow

The elbow avoids bending the tube in a tight angle. A 1/4" tube pinched at the outlet of a reducer reduces the section and strains the wall.

When installed under a sink or in a cabinet, the elbow saves the space that a proper bend radius would require.

Applications

Connection of reverse osmosis units, links between filtration stages, filter housing outlets, point-of-use tap supply, in-line cartridges, water fountains and ice machines. Cold drinking water.

Installation

Cut the tube squarely with a tube cutter, without crushing or angled cuts. Insert fully, beyond the grip ring, then pull moderately to check the lock.

Engage the straight tail in the same way into its receiving socket.

Pressurise gradually and check for leaks before closing the casing.

Removal: depressurise, push the release ring and withdraw the tube.

Good to know

Imperial 1/4" and metric 6 mm are not interchangeable, on the tube side or on the straight tail side.

The straight tail does not screw. For connection to a threaded port, a threaded version is required: MCB in BSPP, MCBT in BSPT, MC in NPTF.
