Stem adaptor 3/8" stem × 1/4" NPTF

Adaptor combining a 3/8" smooth stem with a 1/4" NPTF male thread. It connects a threaded component straight into a quick-connect fitting, with no intermediate piece of tubing.

How the smooth stem works

The stem is sized to the outside diameter of 3/8" tube: it plugs directly into a push-fit fitting, exactly as the tube itself would. Locking collet, seal, release by pressing the collar, the operation is identical.

The benefit: eliminating very short lengths of tube, which are hard to cut square, poorly supported and a common source of leaks. The joint becomes rigid, compact and removable without tools.

Mind the thread

NPTF is an American tapered thread of the Dryseal type. It is not interchangeable with BSP of the same nominal size: thread angle and pitch differ, and forcing the assembly damages both parts. Check the component thread before ordering.

Applications

Connection between valves, membranes, tanks, solenoid valves and quick-connect fittings on RO systems, water coolers and water treatment lines, particularly where space behind the appliance is tight.

Fitting

Seal the thread with PTFE tape, tighten hand-tight plus a quarter turn with a spanner, without forcing. Push the stem fully into the fitting up to the stop, then pull gently to confirm it has locked.
