Simple male union MCB, 1/4" tube x 1/4" BSP(P)

Straight connector with push-fit connection. The 1/4" tube is inserted fully into the body, the retaining clip ensures locking and the O-ring provides the seal. On the opposite side, a 1/4" BSP(P) male thread screws into a device port: filter head, reverse osmosis unit body, valve, membrane, tank.

BSP(P) parallel thread

BSPP is a parallel thread. The seal is not made on the thread but on a seating surface at the bottom of the port, by O-ring or flat gasket depending on the connector design.

Assembly consequences:

• The connector seats on its seating surface, it does not tighten indefinitely
• Teflon on the thread does not ensure the seal of a BSPP
• A tapered BSPT screwed into a parallel BSPP port, or vice versa, engages partially and leaks under pressure

Check the thread family of the receiving port before assembly.

1/4" push-fit tube

Compatible with 1/4" polyethylene tube (9.52 mm for 3/8", 6.35 mm for 1/4"). The 1/4" imperial and 6 mm metric are not interchangeable: the diameter difference prevents the O-ring from seating correctly.

Assembly:

• Cut the tube straight with a tube cutter, without crushing or angled cuts
• Insert until fully seated, beyond the clip
• Pull gently to check the lock

Disassembly: depressurise, push the release collar towards the body and remove the tube.

Applications

Inlet and outlet connections on filter heads, reverse osmosis membrane and valve connections, tank inlet and outlet, solenoid valve and point-of-use fitting connections. Low-pressure cold water line.

Good to know

The MCB does not change the tube diameter or line direction. For a section change, use a reducer. For a direction change, use an ME elbow. For a tapered thread, use the MCBT version in BSPT.
