Carbon block cartridge for Aquapro AP-680

The PR-APC-680 is the compressed activated carbon block stage of the Aquapro AP-680 reverse osmosis system. It treats chlorine, taste, odour and organic compounds carried in the feed water.

A stage the membrane depends on

On an RO system, carbon is not only about taste: it protects the membrane. Polyamide membranes are attacked by free chlorine, which degrades them irreversibly. With no carbon upstream, or with saturated carbon, the membrane loses its rejection rate within weeks, damage that stays invisible until conductivity is measured.

Block rather than loose carbon

Carbon block is compressed media: water travels through the full mass instead of finding preferential channels between granules. Contact time is controlled, performance stays consistent, and the block also provides mechanical filtration of fine particles.

Replacement

Replace this cartridge roughly every 6 months, together with the sediment pre-filter. Saturated carbon releases what it has captured and lets chlorine through: replacing it on time costs far less than a membrane.
