Straight connector 1/4" threaded x 1/4" tube, with o-ring

Straight coupling connector. On the tube side, an instant connection receives the 1/4" tube: insert fully, the retaining clip locks and the o-ring ensures sealing. On the opposite side, a 1/4" thread screws into the threaded port of the device, with an o-ring seated at the base of the thread.

Sealing by o-ring

The o-ring compresses against the flat seating surface at the base of the threaded port. Sealing is achieved by this contact, not by the thread itself.

Installation consequences:

• tighten until the o-ring seats, then one quarter turn, without forcing
• do not add PTFE tape or paste, which serve no purpose and prevent the o-ring from seating correctly
• check the presence and condition of the o-ring before each reassembly: a missing, cut or twisted o-ring will leak immediately
• do not over-tighten: the plastic body will deform and the o-ring will be crushed

This design can be disassembled and reassembled without redoing the seal, which is the main advantage over tapered thread connections.

Applications

Outlet and inlet connector on in-line cartridges, connection of reverse osmosis housings, linking of valves and membranes, outlet from pressure tank, connection of point-of-use taps.

Reference PR-JG1044-O uses the connection code found on several in-line cartridges in the range, making it the associated replacement part.

1/4" tube

Compatible with 1/4" polyethylene tube, i.e. 6.35 mm outside diameter. Imperial 1/4" and metric 6 mm are not interchangeable: the diameter difference prevents the o-ring from seating around the entire circumference.

Tube installation: straight cut with tube cutter, insert fully beyond the clip, check locking by gentle pulling.

Removal: depressurise the line, push the release collar towards the body and withdraw the tube.

Good to know

The connector does not change the tube diameter or line direction. For a change in section, use a reducer. For a change in axis, use an elbow. For BSPT or NPTF tapered thread, use the corresponding MCBT and MC versions.
