The Hanna HI721-25 reagents are designed for the Checker HC HI721, the Hanna pocket photometer dedicated to measuring iron in water. Supplied in pre-dosed powder sachets, they allow 25 tests.
Measurement principle
The reagent is added to the water sample. It reacts with the iron present and colours the sample, more intensely as the concentration increases. The Checker then reads this colour and displays the iron content directly. The pre-dosed sachet format ensures reproducible measurement, without handling bottles or pipettes.
Applications
- Diagnosis of well or borehole water before selecting a treatment
- Efficiency control of an iron removal filter or oxidation filter, by comparing inlet and outlet
- Regular monitoring of water quality on an existing installation
- Verification before commissioning a water softener, as iron can foul the resin
Why measure iron
Iron causes rust stains on sanitary ware and laundry, a metallic taste and deposits in pipes and equipment. Measuring it allows you to select the right treatment (iron removal, oxidation, filtration) and verify its effectiveness afterwards.
Compatibility
These reagents are intended for the Checker HC Hanna HI721 (iron). They are not suitable for other Checker models in the range, as each parameter has its own reagents.
