Set of 4 sheet metal screws to the UNI 6954 standard, pan head, diameter 4.8 mm, length 19 mm, in zinc plated steel for indoor corrosion protection.
What UNI 6954 is
UNI 6954 is the Italian standard for pan head sheet metal screws. It corresponds to DIN 7981 and ISO 7049: same head geometry, same dimensions. A screw offered under either reference is interchangeable at the same diameter and length.
What they do
The thread runs right up to the head and forms its own thread in the material. The screws drive straight into a pilot hole, with no nut or plug: this is the standard fixing for sheet metal, plastic, thin sections and enclosures.
Not to be confused with a self-drilling screw, which has a drill point and needs no pilot hole. Here, a pilot hole is still required.
The pan head spreads the load at the surface without marking and stays discreet on a visible part.
Why a set of four
A wall mount or a backplate is four points. The set avoids counting out loose pieces, ending up with three matching screws and one odd one, or hunting for the fourth at the bottom of the box at the end of the job.
Fitting
Drill pilot holes matched to the thickness and material, too small and the screw binds and snaps; too large and it will not grip. Do not over-torque: past firm contact, the formed thread strips out of thin sheet.
