The heart of your reverse osmosis unit

In a reverse osmosis installation, everything else — pump, pre-filtration, control system — exists only to serve the membrane. It is the membrane that separates pure water from dissolved salts, and its quality determines the quality of the water produced, electrical consumption and the operating cost of the entire system.

High rejection rate (HR)

The designation HR — High Rejection distinguishes this membrane from standard membranes. It retains a higher proportion of dissolved salts, heavy metals, nitrates and organic matter.

In practical terms: permeate water of better quality at equal pressure, or the same quality at lower pressure — therefore less energy consumed. This is the choice for applications where outlet conductivity is controlled.

11.2 m³ per day

A nominal production of 11.2 m³/day, or approximately 467 litres per hour in continuous operation. Sizing is done by mounting multiple membranes in parallel or in series depending on the desired flow rate and conversion rate.

Note: this value is measured under the manufacturer's standard conditions (pressure, temperature, salinity and reference conversion rate). On site, actual production varies with water temperature and feed pressure — cold water produces significantly less.

4040 format — the universal standard

The 4 x 40 inch format (4 inches in diameter, 40 inches in length) is the market standard for medium-capacity installations. The membrane fits into any standard 4040 membrane housing, regardless of the brand of the original installation.

This is a real advantage in maintenance: you replace an ageing membrane without touching the rest of the installation, and without depending on the skid manufacturer.

Protecting the membrane makes it last longer

A membrane does not wear out, it becomes fouled. Its service life depends almost entirely on what arrives upstream:

• Sediment pre-filtration — particles clog the active surface
• Dechlorination on chlorinated water — free chlorine irreversibly destroys the polyamide film
• Anti-scale treatment or softening depending on hardness — limescale precipitates on the membrane
• Periodic cleaning and rinsing in accordance with recommendations

A well-protected membrane lasts several years. A membrane exposed to free chlorine can be lost in a few hours.
