Overview

This round brine tank of 2000 L is a salt reservoir for ion-exchange water softeners. It stores the regeneration salt (tablets) and the water needed to prepare brine. Designed for residential and commercial use, it provides a comfortable salt reserve between refills and suits both new installations and the replacement of an existing tank. The lid limits evaporation and dust ingress and secures the storage.

Role in softening

A softener removes limescale by binding calcium and magnesium ions onto a resin. Once the resin is saturated it must be regenerated: water drawn from the tank dissolves the salt and forms a concentrated brine, sent into the resin vessel to restore its exchange capacity. The quality and volume of the brine tank therefore govern the regularity of regeneration, the autonomy of the system and, ultimately, the consistency of the treated-water hardness.

Construction & materials

The body is high-density polyethylene (HDPE), valued for its impact, UV and salt-corrosion resistance. Blow/injection moulding provides a seamless, watertight and durable one-piece construction. The materials are suitable for drinking-water contact and brine storage. The smooth inner surface eases cleaning and limits salt-bridge formation.

Installation & maintenance

Salt type affects performance: use quality softener salt tablets (sodium chloride) to limit deposits and tank fouling. Do not let the level drop too low between refills. A salt bridge (hardened surface crust) can mimic a full tank while salt no longer dissolves: break it and clean the base if regeneration weakens. A clean tank means consistently softened water.
