Principle

Impact on livestock

Quality water directly protects livestock: fish are less stressed, corals fix calcium and magnesium better, plants grow without being smothered by algae. Conversely, a nitrate or ammonia spike, residual chlorine or unstable alkalinity can weaken or even kill the tank's inhabitants. Anticipating with clean RO water and regular monitoring prevents most aquarium accidents.

Measurement accuracy & reliability

Result reliability rests on good instruments and good practice: a photometer gives a numeric reading far more precise than a by-eye colour comparison, provided valid reagents and clean glassware are used. The choice depends on the tank type and volume.
