Overview

Bottle filter filled with manganese greensand, on Fleck valve (ref. FL-2850-AIQ-GREENSAND-90). Bottle 16X65. This filtration unit ensures iron removal, manganese removal and H2S elimination at the point of entry to protect the entire installation. Supplied ready to install (filled bottle + valve + distribution), it treats mains water, well water or borehole water.

Filtration principle

Manganese greensand is a media coated with manganese oxide that oxidises and retains iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide. It acts by catalytic contact and regenerates periodically with potassium permanganate, allowing it to treat more heavily loaded waters and high manganese concentrations.

Greensand media

The bottle is filled with manganese greensand on a gravel/flint support bed that distributes water and retains fines. Media volume: 85.2L. Depending on the media, the bed is backwashed (carbon/Ecomix) or recharged as it is consumed (calcite/Corosex/Everzit), to maintain performance over time.

Valve & operation

The Fleck valve automatically controls cycles: service (filtration), backwash, rinse and return to service (and salt regeneration for Ecomix). Triggering is time-based or volume-based depending on the model; an integrated bypass isolates the filter without cutting off water.

Sizing & installation

Choose the size (bottle 16X65) according to peak flow rate and water quality. Provide a drain outlet for backwashing and electrical supply for the valve. Install in a frost-free location on level ground; an upstream sediment pre-filter is recommended to protect the media.

Economy & ecology

Treating water at the point of entry protects the entire installation: less corrosion (pH correction), more pleasant water (carbon) and preserved equipment, resulting in fewer replacements and less maintenance. Backwashing uses only water (and salt for Ecomix), with no polluting additives: effective treatment that respects the resource.

Media is chosen according to water analysis: carbon for taste and chlorine, calcite/Corosex to raise aggressive pH, Ecomix for multi-problem well water. Plan for backwashing (sufficient flow rate and drainage) and, for pH correction media, periodic monitoring and recharging of the level as they are consumed. An upstream sediment pre-filter protects the media and spaces out backwashes, while regular water analysis allows you to adjust the valve setting.
