Overview

This depth filter cartridge Fileder (ref. 25) fits into a filter housing to treat water upstream of a point of use or equipment. It delivers cleaner water and protects installations (appliances, machines, networks) from particles and, depending on the medium, chlorine and bad tastes.

Filtration principle

Depth filtration traps particles throughout the medium thickness (wound or melt-blown fibres) along a density gradient: coarse particles are stopped at the surface, the finest in the core. This gives high dirt-holding capacity and excellent tolerance to heavy loads, for pre-filtration and protection of membranes or softeners.

Medium & construction

Wound or melt-blown polypropylene fibres, free of binders or adhesives, for broad food-grade compatibility. Design suitable for drinking-water contact, with pressure and temperature ratings for domestic or professional use. The cartridge is a consumable: performance holds as long as the medium is not saturated.

Performance & compatibility

Compatible with standard market housings (9¾″, 10″, 20″, Big Blue per format). Flow and pressure drop depend on the rating and fouling; add a coarser pre-filter upstream to extend life on loaded water.

Installation & replacement

Shut off the water, depressurise, insert the cartridge in the marked direction (in/out), refit the bowl and bleed the air. Replace the cartridge as soon as flow drops, at medium saturation or per the recommended interval (often 6 to 12 months). An initial rinse removes manufacturing fines (especially carbon).

Savings & ecology

Filtering water at the right rating avoids waste: it protects equipment (water heater, machines, membranes) and extends their life, while cutting bottled-water purchases. Choosing the right fineness and changing the cartridge at the right time limits consumable over-use and discharge. Polypropylene media are recyclable and, for washable pleated cartridges, reusable: an economical and ecological choice.

Respect the flow direction and replacement interval: a saturated cartridge releases impurities and drops the flow. On heavily loaded water, double the pre-filtration (coarse then fine) to protect costly stages (carbon, membrane). Note the exact reference for re-supply: format, rating and connection must match.
