Overview

This activated-carbon filter cartridge Pentek (ref. PENTEK-655223-43) fits into a filter housing to treat water upstream of a point of use or equipment. Size 20B. Filtration rating 0.5 µm. It delivers cleaner water and protects installations (appliances, machines, networks) from particles and, depending on the medium, chlorine and bad tastes.

Filtration principle

Activated carbon adsorbs chlorine, disinfection by-products, volatile organic compounds and the molecules responsible for bad taste and odour. As a block (CTO) or granular carbon (GAC), it combines chemical adsorption with mechanical particle filtration. The result: more pleasant drinking water, without stripping essential minerals, and protection of chlorine-sensitive equipment.

Medium & construction

Activated carbon (extruded CTO block or granular GAC) from coconut shell or coal, wrap and pre-filtration foams per model. Design suitable for drinking-water contact, with pressure and temperature ratings for domestic or professional use. The cartridge is a consumable: performance holds as long as the medium is not saturated.

Replace the cartridge as soon as flow drops, at medium saturation or per the recommended interval (often 6 to 12 months). An initial rinse removes manufacturing fines (especially carbon).

Respect the flow direction and replacement interval: a saturated cartridge releases impurities and drops the flow. On heavily loaded water, double the pre-filtration (coarse then fine) to protect costly stages (carbon, membrane). Note the exact reference for re-supply: format, rating and connection must match.
